Young Fashionista October - November 2023

Our Young Fashionista course is great for 11-16 year olds who are looking for something a bit different! The course caters for beginners to more accomplished young sewers. Your child will learn or develop a new skill, and have fun under the guidance of Lucy who is a qualified Textiles teacher with 20 years teaching experience and full DBS checks.
The course will revolve around upcycling existing / preloved clothing to make something new to wear. It could be something for themselves, someone else or for a character in a play / pop star/ fantasy character… The possibilities are endless. You will start the course by making a selection of small items to get used to the sewing machine, and progress by designing and making a brand new, one of a kind item to wear. We will create a mood-board and do some fashion illustration. Pattern, threads and all equipment will be provided including drinks and snacks which will be available throughout the session. All you need to do is bring a selection of items that you wish to re-purpose. Suggestions include jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shirts, old ballgowns, suits, duvet covers, etc.... (these do not need to be brought to the first session.) Charity shops are a great place to look and we recommend bringing items which are slightly larger. Brilliant for GCSE Art, Drama or Textiles students, or those who just wish to have a bit of sewing fun!

Our Young Fashionista Course will be hosted in our beautiful, brand new, custom built studio in Portskewett (exact address to be emailed upon booking)

- Due to our small class sizes all sessions are non-refundable
- You do not need to bring a machine
- Thread and all equipment (such as scissors, pins etc.) are provided for use
